I’ve just completed an index (by address) for the 16 buildings I’ve featured on this site that are in the Town of Trumbull. The most recent of these buildings is featured in today’s post: the Trumbull Town Hall. I’ve previously featured the Helen Plumb Building in Trumbull, which served as town hall from 1883 to 1957. In that year, the new Town Hall, pictured above, opened at 5866 Main Street. Previously this had been the site of the Aaron Sherwood Homestead, built in 1880. The house was later the home of Dr. Clarence Atkins, a dentist, and was then used as a convalescent home called the Hillcrest Hygienic Lodge.

The John Woodruff house at 99 Colonial Road, Watertown, is dated 1753 in records, and may be the second oldest home in Watertown, with the remains of another Woodruff homestead and former schoolhouse, at the corner of Straits Tnpke. nearby.
This house has been in only 4 family’s possession since 1753, and I am trying to preserve it and its history for the Town. I believe there was an outbuilding, perhaps a carriage house, as well as the existing red barn, on the appx 2 acres, as evidence suggests the same. Please post any information about this lovely preserved house, and if possible, refer me to historians who may direct my search, if you would be so kind.
