Horace Hooker was part of the merchant shipping firm of Hooker and Chaffee, together with his brother James and John Chaffee. Hooker’s house, on Palisado Avenue in Windsor, was built in 1791. The firm lost money in the 1790s and by 1800 the Hooker family had left Windsor for New York state.
