The William Williams House, at the intersection of CT routes 207 and 87 in Lebanon, was built sometime before 1748, when it was purchased by the Revered Solomon Williams. In 1755, Rev. Williams gave the home to his son, William Williams, who would be a delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
William Williams House (1748)
I have a miniature pen set and sterling wax seal that supposedly belonged to one of the singers of the Declaration of Independance William Williams. I have some provenance but nothing solid to tie this down. I am looking for a letter or manuscript that William Williams may have used the wax seal. I would be very appreciative if anyone knows of such a document for me to compare William Williams wax seal to the silver wax seal I have in my position. Thank you for taking the time to read my email.
Sincerly
Allan Coyle
This used to be my parents house!!!:)
I would love to add this picture to my family tree, and post it on my ancestry site for my family tree. I’m not sure about the copyrights of the picture, or who to give credit for the picture. Please e-mail me details and let me know. Thanks!
This was where my great aunt and uncle lived until late 1970s (could be early 80s) I spend many beautiful summer days and nights here!
One of my great uncles, Uncle “Smash” white lived there with his family in the late 60s. I visited there when in was 10. Great memories.
This was my grandparents house, Jean (Smash) and Agnes, until the early 1980’s. My sister and I have fantastic memories of time spent at the house. Jean died in 1990 and we got a chance to see the house again during the funeral.
I was hoping the house would be open to tours. I have recently traced my genealogy back to these Williams. Out first ancestor to settle in America was Robert Williams. If I could contact Allen Coyle I do have a copy of our arms and would like to see the seal.
The arms is a lion rampant. The full coat has a knight’s helmet at the helm and a moor cock at the crest, although there does seem to be some debate as to wether it is in fact a moor cock or domestic cock. The moto at the bottom reads in Welsh ” What God willeth will be”
As a summer job in the late 1970’s, I mowed the lawn here along with the lawn at the Redwood house on the other side of the Green. Also, found memories of swimming at the Community Center across the street.
That is my ancestor’s home. I want it.
I am a 2nd cousin 8x of William Williams. I am very fascinated and am in awe, I would love to visit this historical home to add to my family tree
