Built in the 1790s on Broad Street in Wethersfield, the Robert Robbins House is one of a number of brick Federal style homes in the town designed by James Francis.

Beautiful collection of houses, but what about the ones in Wethersfield off the Old Town, like the Roger Butler house on Jordan Lane (1769), and some of the others on the national register?
Do you know any other facts about the Roger Butler House?
Only that it will soon be my fiancée’s and my home, hopefully, and I’ll be able to get you some more info as I find out more about it.
It does appear that there are three houses belonging to the Butlers on Jordan Lane, Roger’s being the oldest. The Butlers weren’t from Wethersfield, but rather seem to have come from England (via Cambridge) to Hartford during its founding shortly after Wethersfield. However, by the 1680s they established themselves among the homesteaders of Wethersfield.
Even though the house is registered 1769, there’s a number of construction features that bespeak an older timeframe, possibly from the 1750s, and with a little digging and more research, that figure might be moved back to even the late 1690s.
There is a plethora of original materials still used, although there have been additions and changes over the centuries, and the house is a wonderful medley of multi-period features, but it still remains, in essence, a colonial home.
I am from Old Wethersfeild,and I have always loved the historic homes there.I am curious about homes not in the “Old” part,like on Jordan lane,Wells Rd,and Wolcott Hill Rd.they are all so beautiful.
