Built around 1756, or earlier, the Captain Nicholson House in Glastonbury was moved from Hubbard Street to Main Street in 1970. It was built by the sea captain, Ambrose Nicholson, the year he married Margaret Hills, or perhaps around 1740 by his father, Henry Nicholson. The house was restored in 2001.
Captain Ambrose Nicholson House (1756)
Ambrose Nicholson was a brother to Francis Nicholson my GGGGG Grandfather John Loveland Nicholson. It’s a pleasure seeing where Ambrose and family lived.

i wonder if this was the house near 114 Hubbard St next door to my grandparents. it had a wooden date plaque on the right front corner but I don’t remember the name. We always referred to it as The Hale House?
Allan, I don’t remember this house at all when we were growing up. It probably looked quite different. I visited the grandparents’ house one day two years ago. Didn’t go in. A very nice couple live there and I was invited to go back. The historical museum on the green nearby have some of our family artifacts, which I donated.
