Michael Darrow House

Michael Darrow established his farm in Norwich in 1743. He lived in a one room house on his property while regularly commuting to New London. In 1773, his family was admitted as residents of the town of Norwich, so his saltbox house at 10 (also listed as 6) Ox Hill Road was probably completed by that time. Famed lawyer Clarence Darrow was his direct descendant.

“Norwich a College Town?” A major school like the University of Connecticut could establish a satellite campus in the Norwich downtown district. This would encourage high tech and other companies to move to Norwich. Think about it.

Do you have any more information on Michael Darrow, who established his farm in Norwich in 1743. My maiden name was Darrow, and my grandfather was born in New London. Are they related? I’d appreciate any information you can give me. I saw that a Sgt. George Darrow was remanded on a British man of war, and came to Cuba, where he escaped. He got on an American ship, hid for three days, was found and went to New London in 1675. Are these two related?
